I. Purpose, nature and scope of the processing of personal data

Newsletter dispatch
In the context of providing a newsletter, DGB processes the following categories of personal data:

  • E-mail address
  • Name, first name (voluntary)
  • Gender (voluntary)

To register for our newsletter, we use the so-called double opt-in procedure, i.e. we will only send you a newsletter by e-mail if you have expressly confirmed that you want us to activate the newsletter dispatch.

When you subscribe, your e-mail address will be processed for the purpose of sending the newsletter until you unsubscribe. Via the e-mail subscription system of the DGB, you can provide additional data about yourself (surname, first name, gender – however, these are not mandatory). Should you provide us with this data, you thereby consent to this data being processed for the purpose of personalizing the salutation in the newsletters sent to you.

Legal basis
The legal basis for sending the newsletter is your consent in accordance with Art. 6 (1) lit. a DS-GVO, if you have expressly registered for the newsletter.

Storage period
If you no longer wish to receive the newsletter from us, you can revoke your consent once given at any time with effect for the future or object to further receipt of the newsletter. Simply use the unsubscribe link included in every newsletter or send us a message.

Recipients of personal data
Internally at DGB, your data is generally only received by those offices that require it for sending the newsletter. The recipient of this data is also the service company artegic AG, Zanderstrasse 7, 53177 Bonn, Germany, which acts as a processor for the DGB in accordance with Art. 28 DSGVO and is tasked with providing the newsletter system, hosting and technical support.

Data subject rights
You have a right to information about your personal data (Art. 15 DSGVO), and you also have a right to rectification (Art. 16 DSGVO), deletion (Art. 17 DSGVO) or restriction of processing (Art. 18 DSGVO). You have a right to object to processing (Art. 21 DSGVO), in particular if the use is based on the legal basis of a legitimate interest.

To respond to inquiries via the contact form on our website, DGB processes the following categories of personal data:

You can use the contact form to send us your request for advice on the program’s offerings, contact referrals for suitable projects, or other expressions of interest.

Legal basis
The legal basis for processing the data provided in the contact form is Art. 6 (1) lit. f DSGVO due to our legitimate interest in allowing you to contact us for information purposes and for us to respond to your inquiry.

Storage period
The data you send to us via the contact form will be deleted from the editorial system after your inquiry has been fully processed or after three months at the latest. The copy of the e-mail sent to you will be kept for the purpose of providing you with information in case you have any queries. This copy of the reply e-mail is deleted after 90 days.

Recipients of personal data
The recipients of this data are the responsible processors* in the coordination project Initiative for Workplace Democratic Competence of the DGB and the service company Zitrusblau GmbH, Keithstr. 41, 10787 Berlin, which acts as a processor for the DGB in accordance with Art. 28 DSGVO and is commissioned with setting up, providing the website, hosting and technical support.

II. Provision of the website and creation of log files

Each time https://betriebliche-demokratiekompetenz.de is called up, our system automatically collects data and information from the computer system of the calling computer.

Log files
Every time you visit our website, personal data is automatically collected and processed. The storage in log files is done to ensure the technical functionality of the website. In addition, we use the data to ensure the security of our information technology systems.

The following data is processed in log files when a website is called up:

The legal basis for data processing is Art. 6 para. 1 p.1 lit. f DS-GVO. In this context, our legitimate interest is derived from the purposes for data processing listed above.

Storage period
The data is anonymized and deleted as soon as it is no longer required to achieve the purpose for which it was collected. The IP address is shortened or removed by 2 bytes in the web server logs after seven days. The logs are completely deleted after three months.

Recipient
The recipient of this data is the service company Zitrusblau GmbH, Keithstr. 41, 10787 Berlin, which acts as a processor for the DGB in accordance with Art. 28 DSGVO and is responsible for setting up, providing the website, hosting and technical support.

IV. Use of Matomo

Purpose, nature and scope of the processing of personal data
If you have given us your consent, we use “Matomo” on this website for privacy-friendly analysis of website usage. The cookies are used to collect statistical data, in particular about how web pages are accessed.

Matomo is deactivated when you visit our website. Only if you actively consent, your usage behavior is recorded anonymously. For this purpose, the information on usage obtained by the cookie is transmitted to us and stored so that usage behavior can be evaluated. Your IP address will be anonymized immediately.

The following data is processed in this process:

  • IP address of the requesting computer shortened by 2 bytes (e.g. 192.168.XXX.XXX)

  • Time of the first/last visit

Through this data processing, it is possible to technically record recurring visits to the website. Since the IP address is collected in abbreviated form, this data can only be evaluated statistically.

The legal basis for data processing is Art. 6 para. 1 p.1 lit. a DS-GVO.

Storage period
After 13 months, the stored data or the cookie will be deleted.

V. Links to external media

We also provide links to content from video platforms and social media platforms on our website. The integration takes place via a linked icon of the respective network. This linking prevents the automatic establishment of a connection and data transmission to the respective external server of the social network when visiting our website. You will only be forwarded to the service of the respective social network by clicking on the corresponding social media icon. For more information on data processing on the corresponding website, please refer to the privacy policy of the social media provider or the respective network.

VI. Twitter Feed

On our website, content from our project’s Twitter feed may be played automatically when the home page is called up. In the process, all content is temporarily stored on our server in advance (“caching”), so that no data is transferred to external servers.

The Twitter feed contains links to our Twitter channel and also includes the possibility to interact with individual tweets (“like”, “retweet”). These interactions are offered via correspondingly linked endpoints of the Twitter service, i.e. by clicking on corresponding buttons or icons, you are directly redirected to the respective web offer.
